WANAKA - GENERAL IMPRESSION
Wanaka is located 120 kilometers North West of Queenstown. It is a pleasant lakeside village, with great skiing options in winter (see Queenstown). In summer, you can go tramping (hiking). It is a tranquil place to wind down. When traveling to Wanaka from the West Coast, you will pass through the Haast Pass and Mount Aspriring National Park. Make sure you keep an eye out for the signposted walkways on the way!
