Flores
This town, located on a small island, is small enough to walk around the water banks in just half an hour. It is nice to walk through the small streets in the centre and have a drink on your way but the main reason people come here, is to make trips to Tikal or other special places around the town like the incredible Semuc Champey and the Grutas (Caves) de Lanquín.
When arriving back in town at night after one of your trips, have a drink at “El Tucán” where a great view across the lake is provided. Tired? Sleep at Hospedaje Doña Goya where the people are friendly and prices are fair.
If you prefer to stay in the middle of the jungle? Try “Recreo”, right in the middle of nowhere and closer to Semuc Champey and the caves of Lanquin than Flores.
