Semuc Champey - Waterfalls
This extraordinary place might as well be a little part of the Garden of Eden. Semuc Champey is a natural limestone bridge where crystal-clear water and light green plants harmoniously form beautiful plateaus you can swim in. Little fishes will come to nibble your toes as the water cascades down to the next plateau layer. Adam and Eve would probably be jealous seeing you floating around this magical place.
While enjoying the peaceful and magical place you would not imagine the force of the Río Cahabón river which runs underneath the bridge. You can walk to the end of the limestone bridge where you’ll see the thundering waters of the Río Cahabón exit the tunnel and continue its powerful stream outside. If the turquoise pools on top of the bridge weren’t incredible enough, this paradoxical twist of nature makes Semuc Champey probably the most beautiful and unforgettable place in Guatemala.
It’s possible to get here from Flores. If you can’t get enough of this place you could spend the night at one of the cabanas near the entrance or join a day tour from Flores which includes a visit to the caves of Lanquín.
