Tikal
You want magic? You got it. One of the most mystical places you will ever visit is the Mayan temple complex Tikal. As the complex is one of the largest and particularly well kept Tikal is considered to be one of the best Mayan archeological sites in Central America. With the rough jungle embracing the temples, you will feel like travelling back through time as nothing seems to have changed since the Mayas left this place.
Take enough time to explore Tikal. Preferably reserve three days for this but two could be sufficient as well. Make sure to arrive before sunrise in the park at least one of these days to see the air change colors from atop of the highest temple, while you hear the monkeys waking up and screaming from the trees below. The rest of the day you can take your time to walk along every small path you can find because every corner reveals beautiful scenery. In addition, take your time to look at the temples extensively by, for example, having a picnic in one of the open areas in the heart of the park. Now that is what makes your lunch extra special.
Not all temples are allowed to climb on so make sure to get hold of a map where the temples are indicated accordingly. Also, the map could help you not to get lost but a guide would be even more helpful for this. Additionally, a guide can tell you interesting stories about each of the temples on the complex which will surely enrich your visit.
