If you only have a few days in Italy and you are wondering where to go, the answer is very simple… Florence, or Firenze as the Italians refer to it. Together with Rome and Venice, Florence is undoubtedly among the top 3 most remarkable cities in Italy.
The city is just one big open air museum. Even people who are not into cultural stuff will be stunned by the beauty of Florence. There is so much to do here. The extraordinary Duomo of Florence, the Uffizi Gallerie museum, which is among the world’s finest and which is just crammed with master works of Italy’s masters such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, etc. The Galleria dell’Accademia where you can see Michelangelo’s master sculpture works including the one of David, which is renown as being the most beautiful statue in the world. The Da Vinci Museum, the Ponte Vecchio, and Palazzo Vecchio the Museo Nazionale del Bargello and the Giardino di Boboli Gardens including the lovely Pitti Palace. It truly is overwhelming!
All this beauty was constructed during the Golden Age of Florence by the Medici family when Florence was the most important trade and religious center of Italy.
Take 2 or 3 days to see everything and bring comfortable walking shoes, you’ll need them.
