ROME - General Impression

Rome is the capital of Italy and has fulfilled this important role since the days of the Roman empire. As such, it is among the oldest and most influential cities in Europe and the city’s magnificent outline is a combined portrait of its mighty history and the prosperity of today. Rome is also home to the Vatican, the most holy entity within the Catholic Church.

 Rome can be seen as the cradle of European civilization as politics, culture and science flourished here thousands of years ago when most of Europe was still undeveloped. The breathtaking Colosseum, the Capitolio, which was the political centre during the Roman Empire, The Vatican with its imposing San Pietro Cathedral and you can’t leave without throwing a lucky coin into the magical Trevi Fountain.

Besides being home to all this marvelous monuments Rome is a modern city where entertainment, shopping, nightlife and galore.

Take around 3 or 5 days to see everything. Rome will never be boring. If time is on your side you could include day trips to Pompei or the Villa Adriana  the beautiful summer hideout of the Roman Emperor Hadrianus.
