BARCELONA - General Impression
Although Barcelona is Spain’s second city in size, maybe with respect to appeal, beauty and culture it is the most attractive city to visit. The city makes a perfect destination for a weekend trip and should definitely be included in a larger trip through Spain. Most visitors indeed come for a weekend trip, but as there is a lot to see you could easily spend an entire week here.
The city really has a lot to offer for every visitors taste. The main attraction are the historic city center and the jaw dropping architectural creations of Gaudi like the mighty Sagrada Familia cathedral, Parc Guell or La Pedrera. But in fact the entire city is built with elegance and grace. Barcelona is a cradle of cultural events and boasts a fantastic nightlife. The city is scattered with countless splendid bars and restaurants. Shopaholics will be able to trench their thirst for sure as the city center is filled with shops, boutiques and of course there are the El Corte Ingles department stores where one could get lost for an entire day.
As you will be walking around quite a bit you may want to relax as well. No problem, Barcelona has it all. Chill out in Parc Ciutadella or Montjuic or put down your towel on one of the cities great beaches during the long and sunny summers.
