MADRID – Restaurants

There is no way you can stay hungry in Madrid. Even if you are on a tight budget, you can eat fabulously. That’s probably why restaurants are always crowded, no matter what day or time. Madrileños just love to eat.

To try the world famous tapas, head to Huertas. The narrow streets around Plaza Santa Ana will offer you a wide range of restaurant options, most of which are good. Try one of the cosy and good tapas bars at Calle de Cádiz or Calle Nuñez de Arce, or taste the delicious gambas at Casa del Abuelo (Calle Victoria, 12).

Chueca is another barrio that offers good restaurants and tapas bars. Chueca is Madrid’s gay district, but great for both gay and hetero food-lovers.

Calle de la Cava Baja (in La Latina) leaves you probably the whole night hopping tapas bars, as there are too many good ones. A fantastic place nearby for ‘montaditos’ (mini sandwiches) is Cervecería 100 montaditos (Plaza de Puerta Cerrada, 6 and Calle Mayor, 22).

In for another thing than tapas? Head to the popular and trendy restaurant La Finca de Susana (Metro Sevilla), which looks more expensive than it is and offers good food. Be prepared to wait in a line on busy nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday).
