MADRID

Madrid is alive! Day or night, it doesn’t matter. There is always something to do in Spain’s exciting capital. Whether you go strolling down the streets along the hundreds of shoestores :-) or you just simply relax at El Parque Retiro, or people watch while enjoying a cool beer at Plaza del Sol, you will never be bored.

Hotspots you definitely must not miss are El Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Plaza de Oriente (right behind the palace), Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, El Rastro (flea market on Sunday only!) and El Parque Retiro.

For the best churros con chocolate (a Spanish delicacy) you should to go to Chocolatería de San Gines (closeby Plaza Mayor).

Madrid has many Plazas where you can just sit down and relax, have some great tapas, sangria and watch all the people pass by.

Madrid’s nightlife is infamous, and starts around 2am. If you want to go home by then, be prepared for a traffic jam. I have never seen a city where there’s a traffic jam at night! But I loved the atmosphere.

Altogether Madrid is a fantastic city, and a great weekend escape!
