Nightlife in Valencia

Valencia’s nightlife is diverse and fun if you know where to go. There are different neighborhoods to choose from. Remember that Spanish people have dinner around 9-10 p.m. and start going to bars and pubs around 12 midnight. Clubs should be avoided before 3 a.m.

Students prefer Thursdays for a night on the town, but Fridays and Saturdays are equally busy. Below we listed an overview of the best areas to go out.

El Carmen

El Carmen is the old city center of Valencia. Along the Caballeros street you can find plenty of small bars and clubs to dance the night away. It is also a good area to check out the alternative nightlife. Make sure you also explore the smaller side streets.

Go to El Negrito for an early drink on a terrace, especially nice on a summer’s day.

El Pinball (Calle Concordia 3) is a dark little bar for punk-retro from the 80’s.

El Turmix (Calle Dr. Chiarri) is a famous underground bar, open until 3.30 a.m.

Radio City (Santa Teresa 19) is a good place for flamenco performances on Tuesday, and to dance the night away.

Bolseria and Fox Congo are good places to go to if you like Spanish music and dancing.

Murrayfields is a small bar where you can have a drink and listen to rock music.

For Jazz lovers, Jimmy Glass is the place to be.

Plaza del Cedro

Check out the Cedro square if you like indie and rock. A few good places to go to are Velvet, Matisse, Tornillo and El Asesino.

Check out the program of the “Wahwah” online to see what concerts are on.

Juan Llorens

This area can be considered to be more mainstream. It is filled with bars and clubs like Akuarela Pub (Spanish Pop), Pub Peatonal (Spanish Pop), Café Carioca (famous Juan Llorens bar) or Pacagarse.

For those of you that like live music, go to El Loco club (Calle del Erudito Orellana).

Blasco Ibañez Avenue and Polo y Peyrolon

This is the area where a lot of (Erasmus) students go out on Thursday night.

Walking along the Polo y Peyrolon Street you will find plenty of bars to check out. From rock to pop, you can find it all here.

If you like live concerts (jazz and blues), make sure you go to the Black Note.

Along Blasco Ibañez you can dance at Murry Club (different kinds of music on different days and Rumbo 144 (Erasmus nights on Wednesday) among others.

Canovas

Another mainstream area: no rock or indie can be found here, just (Spanish) pop. Hop from one bar to another to get a taste of real Spanish nightlife.
