When planning our own trip to South America we asked a friend who had been there as well what is the most beautiful country of the continent. After thinking for a while he said... Bolivia. Until then it had not occurred to us to go there, but... based on his advise, we did, and indeed he was right. Bolivia... is beautiful, pure, amazing.

Bolivia, which has lost almost half of its original territory in wars with surrounding countries suffered intensely in its recent history. It has a reputation for frequent social unrests and roadblocks, and still therefore is neglected by most travelers. But that is a big mistake to make. When visiting South America this is a country that you simply cannot skip. With half of the country situated on the Altiplano (high flat +-3800 meters), and the other half stretching out into the deepest center of the Amazon, you can imagine that this country possesses some of the most spectacular and untouched landscapes on the planet, and indeed it does. Add a mighty traditional folklore and the beautiful spirit off the Bolivian people and you will realise that this is the jewel of Latin America!! The greatest highlights are the incredible Salar de Uyuni in the southwest and the mystic Lake Titica on the border with Peru, which is one of the highest lakes on earth. But there is much more natural beauty to see.
