RIO DE JANEIRO

Rio is an amazing... awesome place. The city, also referred to as the Cidade Maravilhosa (Marvelous City), is very beautiful because of the remarkable and tropical landscape as well as the many beautiful spots in the city. The city is huge, vibrant, and has a very interesting variety in neighborhoods, both modern and traditional. Besides there are many great beaches and the spectacular surrounding hills which offer great views of the city. Even more spectacular is to go paragliding and get some unforgettable panoramic views of the city.

There is always something going on, especially at night, cause Cariocas (inhabitants of Rio) love to go out and party. Check out the fashionable night clubs at Leblon or Ipanema. There are also some great bars and clubs in Copacobana and Lapa. Another option is to go to one of the city s authentic samba clubs or crash a favela party. Do not miss the opportunity to see the real passion of the Cariocas during a football match in the enormous Maracana stadium. Perhaps the best time to visit is during carnaval, when the pounding rhythm of Samba drives the entire city to ecstasy.

Trust us! Rio definitely is one of the greatest cities on earth.

Special Safety Notice

Although Rio is a fantastic city, it is not the safest place. You should remember not to wonder around with any valuables on you, just carry the very essentials on you. This goes for both day and night. Leave your wallet, watch and other valuables in your hotel. Do not wonder around unecessarily on the street at night, instead take a taxi, they are cheap anyway. Keep these things in mind and you should be just fine.
