NIGHTLIFE IN RIO
One thing is for sure, Rio never sleeps! Music just runs through the veins of the cariocas. The nightlife starts around midnight, although bars get busy as soon as it gets dark. On Friday and Saturday night, the streets of Lapa fill up with all kinds of people, drinking caipirinhas and dancing samba till the sun rises. If you visit Rio in the months before Carnaval, go to a samba school and get a taste of what’s carnival like. For the nightclubs and the dressed up cariocas, head to Ipanema, Leblon or Gvea. In Botafogo you will find an more alternative crowd. Check out the newspapers or flyers in boutiques in Leblon or Ipanema to check where the hottest parties are at.
00 (Zero Zero)
Are you tired of hearing samba all the time, and you want to go clubbing with high heels ladies, Zero Zero is the place to be. It’s a restaurant and at night the club opens its doors. Here you will find here the upper-class students and the music is primarily dance/funk/house. The dance floor is not that big, but the terrace outside with the bar in the open air is great.

Fosfobox
Fosfobox is the kind of place where different kind of people will have a great night out. Styles are mixed here and everybody is welcome. It has three areas and the club offers good music, nice drinks and a friendly atmosphere.

Rio Scenarium
The club itself is already an attraction; it’s decorated with a lot of passion. There are three floors, all of them decorated with antiques and balconies overlooking the lively streets of Lapa. The ambiance is great and the live bands are even greater. You can eat, drink, dance and watch them dancing!

Circo Voador
Circo Voador is located in the center of Lapa, it’s an open air music theatre. Famous Brazilian and international artist come here to play or release their new CD. It’s not too big and it has a great acoustic setup. Check the website for shows and concerts!

Carioca da Gema
This bar was the most popular samba spot in Lapa, and nowadays it still is. The have great live performances and it’s always packed with people. It represents the carioca way of live; samba, dancing and not thinking about tomorrow.
