La Havana - La Habana
Welcome to the famous la Havana! Cuba’s capital is well known from the songs made by its most famous music group Buenavista Social Club. Although most buildings are quite damaged the city has a certain splendor of a glorious past over it. Cuba has always tried to compete with the United States to prove that Cuba is just as great a nation as the US, but the reality shows more and more that Cuba simply cannot afford to maintain this prestigious battle. There is some wonderful colonial architecture, although most buildings could use a lick of paint. It does add to the charm in a way.
A great way to discover the city is to just stroll around the city admiring the wonderful architecture and classic cars that are everywhere. Just like Washington D.C. has the Capital, Havana has its own Capitolio Nacional which is must see when you visit the city. Besides, visit the Museo de la Revolución or sip down mojito’s at one of the many bars or terraces while enjoying some fantastic live Cuban music. Stroll around the Malecón (beachfront) or see Cuban life from up close in Calle 8. At night there is also a lot of action. Check out the famous Tropicana nightclub or go to Casa de La Música or Casa de La Trova.

You can wander around Havana for days! A must see is also the Necrópolis de Cólon (cemetary). If you believe in Saints and would like to have a wish fullfilled, don't forget to bring some flowers and ask for the tomb of Amelia Goyri. However, there are instructions of how to make a wish. Ask the workers! If you'd like to get out of this vibrant city, head to the beaches of Havana. Take the red tourist bus in front of Gran Teatro to Playa L'este. In my opinion this beach was better than the ones around Holguin.
