TRAVEL GUIDE TO VENEZUELA
Venezuela!! Just hearing the name makes us think about paradisiacal beaches, tropical music and of course beautiful women. However, there is so much more. Given its unique location with the Caribbean beaches in the north, the impenetrable jungles of the Amazone in the south, the vast wetlands in the midwest, and the spectacular peaks of the Andes in the west, Venezuela offers a great variety of landscapes and scenery. The spectacular Angel Falls, which are the highest waterfall in the world, is the indisputable highlight of this diverse country.
Although 6 weeks or even two months would be ideal, you can really see a great deal of what this country has to offer in 2 or 4 weeks.
Planning: If you have 5 or 6 weeks you can see most of Venezuela’s highlights and you’ll be able to do see both the west, east and perhaps even south of the country. With 3 weeks you can see Mérida, Los Llanos, Angel Falls, and have 5 days or a week of beach time at exciting Isla Margarita or more exclusive and peaceful Los Roques). Clearly, if you have more time, you will have the opportunity to go deeper and explore more. If you do please let us know, We’re always excited to hear about special places off the beaten track.
Special Advise: Venezuela is not necessarily the safest country. Although it is not so bad inland, be very careful in Caracas and other big cities. Only take official taxi’s. Especially at the airport, ignore touts who come up to you and walk straight to the official taxi stand point. If you’re in a situation or with people that you don’t trust, walk away.
