Although Ciudad Bolivar is a pretty and charming colonial town, the real reason why you’re here is to organize your trip to one of the great wonders of the world and an absolute must see when visiting Venezuela, Salto Angel, or perhaps better known as Angel Falls, the highest waterfalls in the world (979m).
There are numerous travel agencies around town which organize tours. There are also some travel agencies at the airport. The 3 day tour is spectacular and includes a flight in a Cessna over the rain forest and the Gran Sabana, which is covered with so called “tepuis”, the ancient table top mountains of south-eastern Venezuela. It’s worth to shop around as prices for the trip can vary significantly.
