If you are looking for beautiful beaches, quiet and deserted or filled with people and action, Isla de Margarita will certainly fulfil your wished. What an island. This is where the Caraqueños go to get tanned and go crazy in the weekends. It’s a very enjoyable island with plenty of beaches satisfying to all tastes.
The biggest beach with exciting nightlife (Woodie’s ) is Playa El Agua. Connected to it, but a bit more quiet and pleasant is Playa Parguito. Wind-Surfers stay in El Yaque, which is one of the best wind-surfing spots in the world. International tournaments are held regularly there.
Porlamar is not the best place to stay as the beaches are limited, but nightlife is bashing. A night in Señor Frogs is obligatory and Kami Beach is very good too and right on the beach. A must do on Isla de Margarita is to rent a car (+- $40 for a jeep, $3 for a full tank of gasoline) and drive around the island in one day. Hop from beach to beach on your way to Punta Arenas in the far west. Make sure to catch the sunset in Playa Juangriego, spectacular!!!!
